ArteKino 2021-2022

The goal of ArteKino is to showcase Europe’s cultural and linguistic diversity with a wide selection of European films.

A consortium composed of ARTE GEIE, ARTE France Cinéma and the Association des Cinémathèques Européennes developed a unique cinema catalogue as a response to the limited availability and circulation of European audiovisual works.

Supported by the European Union’s Europe Creative Media programme, the ArteKino project has three programme branches.

  • Since March 2022 ArteKino has added a new section, ArteKino Classics, which allows the discovery of rare or essential titles from the history of European Cinema.

  • The ArteKino catalogue includes a monthly film rendez-vous, the ArteKino Selection, featuring contemporary films

  • The ArteKino festival takes place once a year from December 1st to December 31st, showcasing a selection of 12 European films directed by young directors. During the festival period, the public can vote for their favourite films on the website

ArteKino is available on ARTE’s digital platforms, free of charge, in 32 European countries with six subtitled versions: English, Spanish, Polish, Italian, French and German. This targets 70% of Europeans in their native language.
